Another Kurt Cobain conspiracy theory invaded the internet recently when a video of Peruvian singer Ramiro Saavedra performing Nirvana's hit "Come As You Are" hit the internet. It didn't take long for theorists to claim that Cobain had faked his death in 1994 and has been living with a new identity in Peru. The rumor picked up momentum thanks to a Daily Mail article Tuesday that perpetuated the rumor.
Thankfully, the Nirvana's official Facebook page stepped in to put the ridiculous story to rest. Even better, they shot down the story in the best way possible.
"It is true, Kurt is alive. He needed time to learn to play the guitar with his right hand. Finding left-handed guitars is not easy," the band's page stated with sarcasm, addressing the inconsistency that Cobain was left-handed and that the artist in the video plays guitar with his right hand. "We are so happy to have him back and forgive him for all of the sadness that we have held so deeply in our hearts."
Conspiracy theories about Kurt Cobain have existed since the icon's tragic death in 1994. His cause of death was officially ruled as suicide by officials, but that hasn't stopped speculation surrounding the circumstances of his death from trolling the internet. Back in 2015, a Seattle man who has long believed that Cobain was murdered even filed a lawsuit demanding the release of death photos to prove his theory, which was later dismissed by a judge.
