Kesha’s ongoing legal battle with producer Dr. Luke has seemingly put the brakes on her music career. The 29-year-old singer, who hasn’t released an album since 2012’s Warrior, has said her contractual obligation to work with Dr. Luke made it impossible to drop new material; however, it looks like that’s going to change soon.

According to Buzzfeed, Sony Music confirmed Kesha is working on a new project that should be released in the near future. It’s encouraging news for the singer and her fans, who’ve been holding their breath for years.

“Creating a new album takes time, and everyone’s goal is to deliver a high quality album consistent with Kesha’s past releases,” Sony Music wrote in a statement. “We hope to share exciting new music with Kesha’s fans soon.”

Sony Music claims Kesha has submitted 28 songs to Dr. Luke's Kemosabe label, and they’re staying in touch with involved parties “to keep the process moving forward.” But, not everyone is convinced this will actually happen.

“Kesha has been trying for six months to record and release new music,” Kesha’s attorney, Daniel Petrocelli, said in a statement. “Only in the last month, after our last court hearing, has any progress been made, but it is hardly enough. Kesha still has received no commitments on promotion, songs, or even a release date. We hope things turn around fast. Meanwhile, Kesha intends to continue participating in the creative process in the hopes she can meaningfully return to work.”

In Kesha’s original lawsuit against Dr. Luke, she accused the famed producer of drugging and sexually assaulting her. Dr. Luke continues to deny these claims, and insists the singer was simply looking for a way to get out of her contract.

According to Buzzfeed, Kesha has agreed to a list of producers whom she'll work with for the upcoming album. Stay tuned as more information comes through.
