For those hoping that the artist formerly known as Mos Def may have reconsidered his decision to end his music career, we've got some bad news for you. Yasiin Bey recently posted a video to Facebook where he announced that he still planning to retire.“I’m retiring for real this year, this week,” Bey said. "With the 17th anniversary of Black on Both Sides being released, I am grateful to have had the career that I have been able to enjoy.”

Bey is currently involved in a legal dispute with the country of South Africa where he currently resides. He had booked and planned to perform two shows later this month in London at the O2 Forum, the first of which was set to go down last night with the other set to kick off on Oct. 24. The former was pushed back after the venue cited "an urgent issue" as the cause of the delay. It's yet to be seen if Bey will show up at all given his current immigration status. He proposed performing in South Africa and offering up a live stream to anyone who had a ticket to the show.

The rapper also revelead that, "I do have one or two films that I made commitments to earlier, before I announced my retirement. Apart from that, I’m moving onto other things, still being creative. You know, definitely fashion, textiles, and just art. Whatever I can create that’s beautiful and useful, that’s what I wanna do." Before adding that he's got a bunch of "exclusive new material" in the works that he's offered up to Jay Z to stream on Tidal.
