Joey Badass knows perfection takes time.

On Tuesday, the Pro Era member announced his sophomore album, A.A.B.A., was originally set to drop on that day; however, after deciding to make additional changes, he has pushed its release back to 2017.

“The new music is well worth the wait! Today was the original release date for my upcoming album. But it’s been delayed 4 perfection,” he tweeted. “I wanna say top of next year… new bada$$ album…”

After wrapping up his Blank Face tour with ScHoolboy Q last month, the Brooklyn rapper began hinting that his next LP would arrive before the year’s end. He even posted an Instagram photo last week that indicated A.A.B.A. was 90 percent complete. You’d think it wouldn’t take that long to finish the last 10 percent, but he insists that it’ll be worth waiting for.

“This new project is very powerful. That’s the best thing I can say about it. It’s very strong music,” he explained on Joey Franchize’s radio show. “It’s like hella vegetables. It’s hella good for you, [which is] almost my hesitance [sic] with it—the fact that it’s so good for you, because these kids these days want candy. ‘Devastated’ is almost like the organic candy because the message is still good for you.”

“Devastated” is one of two singles Joey has shared from the upcoming record.  The other was “Front & Center,” which he released last month.

Stay tuned as more information on A.A.B.A. comes in.
