As we all know, 2016 has been pretty garbage. One of this year's hugest losses has been the musical genius known as Prince being taken from the world back in April. Today his estate has blessed the Prince-loving community with the first posthumous song from his massive vault, "Moonbeam Levels."

The song was premiered today as a part of 4Ever, a massive 40-song "greatest hits" collection featuring many of Prince's biggest singles, including "When Doves Cry," "Sign O' The Times," "Kiss," and "1999. "Moonbeam Levels" is said to have been sitting in Prince's vault since 1982; it was a product of the 1999 recording sessions, and was apparently considered to be a part of Prince's opus Rave Unto The Joy Fantastic, which was never released.

You can hear a clip of "Moonbeam Levels" in this ABC News video (it starts 45 seconds into the clip).

4Ever was announced in October along with a remastered deluxe version of Purple Rain, which is said to feature a second album of previously unreleased music. That re-release, which is said to have been worked on with Prince's input, is due out in early 2017. 4Ever is available now, and includes a 12-page booklet featuring never-before-seen photos by the acclaimed Herb Ritts.

At the time of this writing, there's no word on "Moonbeam Levels" appearing anywhere for legal streaming; one has to wonder if Tidal will even get the tracks, based on the legal issues Prince's estate has had with the streaming company.
