What has shaped up to be an eventful month for A Tribe Called Quest continued Friday night when the group appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live. Busta Rhymes joined Q-Tip, Ali Shaheed Muhammad and Jerobi White for a performance of the track “Dis Generation.” The collective paused to pay tribute to the late Phife Dawg, who passed in March due to complications from diabetes. Each performer pointed towards the sky as Phife’s verses played.

On Nov. 20, A Tribe Called Quest topped the Billboard top 200 albums chart for the first time in nearly 20 years with the release of their final album, We Got It From Here… Thank You 4 Your Service. With confirmed sales of 112,000 units during their first week, Tribe’s swan song marked the group’s first No. 1 debut since Beats, Rhymes and Life topped the charts on Aug. 17, 1996.

Recently, Phife Dawg was also posthumously given a street named in his honor, as Nov. 19 saw the intersection of Linden Boulevard and 192nd Street in the Saint Albans neighborhood of Queens co-named Malik “Phife Dawg” Taylor Way.

Q-Tip announced what is widely believed to be A Tribe Called Quest’s final album in October via a handwritten note. Tip wrote that the Paris bombing and the group’s appearance on The Tonight Show, which was Tribe’s first televised performance in 18 years, spawned the decision.
