If there is some conflict between J. Cole and Lil Yachty, it appears the man affectionately referred to as “Lil Boat” isn’t interested in taking things further. Yachty responded with a laugh when asked about Cole’s bars from the recently released “Everybody Dies.” The track was one of two new releases from Cole's documentary Eyez.

“It was cool,” Yachty told J. Cruz of KPWR “Power” 106 during a post-show interview at the station’s annual “Cali Christmas” event. “I don’t listen to J. Cole. I definitely listed to it. It flooded my shit. It was everywhere.”

The perceived diss found Cole sending subliminal shots at what could have been any number of MCs, as he rhymed, “Lil’ whatever, just another short bus rapper.” Lil Yachty and J. Cole have a bit of a history, as Yachty tweeted “Fuck J. Cole” multiple times dating back to 2011. Yachty has since apologized for sending the tweets, which Yachty says were sent when he was in ninth grade. Fans quickly speculated Yachty was the “Lil” rapper in question and began tagging him in social media posts after the release of Eyez. Lil Yachty denied the reference was only about him.

“It’s a lot of ‘Lil’ rappers,” Yachty offered, while he added that the insult could have just as easily applied to Lil Uzi Vert. “Honestly, I don’t give a fuck. I fuck with J. Cole, bro. I don’t listen to J. Cole, but I fuck with J. Cole.

Lil Yachty referenced his old tweets and how they may have factored into “Everybody Dies.”

“Those tweets came out a long time ago when I said that,” Yachty explained. “I was trolling, and I hope that he doesn't feel any type of way. I probably will never see J. Cole.”
