A legal battle between Cash Money Records CEO Bryan “Birdman” Williams and Lil Wayne has kept the release of Tha Carter V in limbo. And while Williams recently announced plans to “definitely” have another Wayne album on shelves in 2017, Young Money President Mack Maine pointed towards another planned Weezy release as part of a group of upcoming Lil Wayne albums.

“We wanna get that Carter V out," Mack told Revolt in a recent interview. “Wayne also has a dope project called Velvet. We want to get that out. Drake dropping top of the year. Nicki got some features that—I’ve been in the studio with her lately—that she’s just killing. She also gonna be working on her solo project and she’s dropping.”

The tentative timeline follows Oliver El-Khatib’s announcement that Drake’s More Life would drop some time during the first quarter of 2017 and Wayne’s Facebook post with hopes of dropping at least three new projects. Mack Maine’s interview with Revolt also featured news of a some upcoming singles from Nicki Minaj and collaborative project with Lil Wayne, Gutta Gutta, and Hoodybaby operating under the name L.A.T.

With reportedly no movement on the stalemate between Lil Wayne and Birdman, it’s unclear how or what record label will be used to release the projects. In 2015, Wayne sidestepped his issues with Cash Money by releasing the Free Weezy Album via the streaming service Tidal.
