Earlier this week, agitated Lauryn Hill fans in Pittsburgh took to social media to roast her after she was more than three hours late for her performance. Hell, the Roll Safe meme spread at the perfect time.

It's like divine intervention. Anyways, Lauryn decided to let it be known that this wasn't, in fact, her fault via a Facebook post explaining what caused such an egregious delay.
"We apologize for the extremely late start last night, there were factors out of our control. Due to the snow yesterday in NYC," she wrote. "Half of my band, and some members of my crew, were stuck at LGA airport all day. After several cancelled and delayed flights throughout the day, they arrived late last night, and went straight to the venue for the show."
Hill said that promoters did alert concert goers via social media and at the door, but admitted that "we should have cancelled the performance and rescheduled for a later date," although they are planning on scheduling another gig in Pittsburgh sometime this month.
While it's dope that Lauryn Hill is actually apologizing, let's be for real, the latter half of her career is known more for her lateness to shows than anything. A similar situation happened in May of 2016, when an Atlanta performance started two hours late, and featured Hill only performing for 30 minutes before ending her set. At the time, she apologized on Facebook, dropping a memorable, peak Lauryn Hill explanation.
"I don't show up late to shows because I don't care. And I have nothing but Love and respect for my fans. The challenge is aligning my energy with the time, taking something that isn't easily classified or contained, and trying to make it available for others."
All of that may be true, but we could be too far gone. With being notoriously late while also performing her classic material in drastically different ways, compounded by the reality that she's never given fans a true follow-up to her Grammy-winning Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, it's hard for those who aren't diehard Hill fans to do anything but get those jokes off on Twitter. Which might not be any of Lauryn's concern. It's truly just hard to cape for her at this point.
