A week after securing his fourth No. 1 album with the self-titled FUTURE project, Future has done it again, as his HNDRXX album was confirmed as the No. 1 album in the country. Future pulled off the feat with 121,000 equivalent album units, of which 48,000 were physical units, according to data Billboard obtained from Nielsen Music.

There was speculation as to whether Future could pull off the rare feat of placing two albums atop the Billboard 200 albums chart in back-to-back weeks while also occupying both of the top spots on the chart. In the end, he managed to pull it off, with his self-titled album now at No. 2.

“It’s a rare feat for an act to score both the Nos. 1 and 2 albums at the same time,” reported Keith Caulfield of Billboard. “The last act to do so was Prince, following his death last year, when, on the May 7-dated chart, he re-entered the list at No. 1 with The Very Best of Prince and at No. 2 with the Purple Rain soundtrack.”

For an artist who refers to himself as “Future Hendrix” and named a mixtape Purple Reign, Future is now among rare company.

There were reports of Future edging out Country outfit Little Big Town for the top chart spot earlier in the week, and Future essentially called the race with three purchasing days left in the week.

#1 #2 album in the country. 🙏🏾

Prior to the late Prince, the last artist to respectively claim the top two chart spots was Nelly. The St. Louis rapper accomplished the achievement when his albums Sweat and Suit topped the charts in October of 2004.
