Kendrick Lamar's Friend G-Weed Allegedly Shot in Head

Kendrick Lamar's childhood friend G-Weed was allegedly shot in the head.

It's been alleged that G-Weed, a longtime friend of Kendrick Lamar, has been shot in the head. In Instagram posts over the weekend, Inglewood-based rapper Skeme and J Roc the Bodyguard asked for prayers for G-Weed after an alleged shooting incident. The reports have not confirmed by G-Weed himself, or by authorities.

"Pray for my brother," J Roc said. "He was shot in the head tonight . . . I love you fool. They say you good but till I hear you I'm trippin."

In a caption on a photo of G-Weed posted the same day, Skeme told his friend to "stay strong."

Following Skeme and J Roc's posts, others started sending words of support using the hashtag #PRAYFORGWEED:

G-Weed's last Instagram post—shared the same day as Skeme and J Roc's original posts—shows he was in the Atlanta, Georgia area. The location of the alleged shooting, however, has not been confirmed. The Atlanta Police Department did not immediately respond to Complex's request for comment.

G-Weed has appeared in multiple Kendrick Lamar videos and on the cover of his 2015 album To Pimp a Butterfly. In 2016, G-Weed appeared in the Noisey Bompton documentary alongside Lamar. "It's definitely hard because you still have demons," Lamar said when asked about the "seismic shift" in G-Weed's life. "You still have family. Just because Weed's doing something positive doesn't mean he don't have no relatives out here that's still in the streets. If something happened to them, you don't know how he may feel. You don't know how he may react to that. You know what I'm saying? And then that puts you in a sticky situation. It's a lot of mind control."
