R&B songstress Staasia Daniels dropped her latest single "Goatee" back in March, and today we are pleased to premiere the accompanying visual for the sultry track here on Complex.
The song was produced by Xpress aka DJXP and features Staasia offering her own modern reinterpretation of Aaliyah's "I Don't Wanna," injecting the classic with difficulties found in today's increasingly unconventional relationships. The lyrics bounce back and forth between being poignant ("hate being alone but not lonely") to cheeky ("in between my thighs missing your goatee"). The simplistic, sepia-toned visual was directed by Morgan Ross.
Since dropping her Hidden Gems EP in late summer last year, Ms. Daniels has clearly been busy in the studio as "Goatee" is the third track she has released in just two months (in addition to "Hanky Panky" and "Peanut Butter"). We're hoping this means a full-length project is on the way from the Brapton native, but for now we're happy to listen to "Goatee" on repeat.
