The most-streamed song of all time, rightfully, is now Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee's ubiquitous smash "Despacito." The Fonsi x Yankee original and the Justin Bieber-featuring remix have amassed more than 4.6 billion streams across all platforms, Billboardreported Wednesday.

The Bieber remix, as of the latest Hot 100 ranking, is still the No. 1 song in the country ahead of gigantic cuts from DJ Khaled (both "Wild Thoughts" and "I'm the One"), Jay Z ("The Story of O.J."), and Kendrick Lamar ("Humble"). To put the song's popularity in perspective, the original "Despacito" first dropped way back in January of this year.

The track, which stands as the first primarily Spanish single to top the Hot 100 since the beloved '90s classic "Macarena," ran into a spat of controversy in May. During an appearance at the 1OAK in New York City, Bieber drew heavy amounts of ire for forgetting the remix's lyrics and then proceeding to mock the Spanish language:

Fonsi later spoke with Rolling Stone about the incident, seemingly unfazed. "That chorus is not easy to sing, even for fluent Spanish singers like myself," Fonsi said. "It's got a lot of lyrics, it's kind of tongue-twisty."

The song "Despacito" bumped from the most-streamed distinction, interestingly enough, is Bieber's own single. Bieber's "Sorry" (and related remixes) currently boasts just shy of 4.4 billion streams. "Despacito" is also now the fastest ever music video to reach two billion views, a feat it managed in just 154 days.

"It is truly an honor that 'Despacito' is now the most streamed song in history," Fonsi said Wednesday.
