Playboi Carti Reportedly Arrested for Misdemeanor Domestic Battery in L.A.

Carti and the woman, allegedly his girlfriend, were arguing about a phone call to her mother.

Playboi Carti was arrested shortly after arriving at Los Angeles International Airport Thursday for misdemeanor domestic battery, TMZreported. Police sources claimed to TMZ that witnesses told them Carti first started arguing with the woman—who is reportedly Carti's girlfriend of three years—as they were leaving their terminal, then the two started "pushing each other."

Once outside, Carti allegedly have grabbed her by her backpack before forcing her into an Uber vehicle. Carti posted a bail of $20,000 and was released Friday morning, according to the report. The woman was not arrested. Carti has not publicly commented on the alleged incident.

According to a police report cited by TMZ Friday afternoon, the argument began with Carti telling the woman to call her mother "but she didn't want to." Carti then allegedly snatched her phone and grabbed her by the backpack. Carti claims she hit him, but left no injuries. Witnesses say he was slapped in the face. One witness, who made the initial call to authorities, claims to have seen a "red mark" on the woman's chest from Carti pulling on the backpack. Cops reported seeing no physical injuries on either involved party.

A representative for Playboi Carti did not immediately respond to Complex's request for comment.

Playboi Carti's nationwide tour with Young Nudy and Pi'erre Bourne kicks off Saturday in Seattle, Washington and wraps up in Denver, Colorado Aug. 29.
