Trion Worlds’ new fantasy MMO, Rift, hasn’t even been released yet and it’s already a smash hit, with over one million registered accounts. Yesterday the game granted early access to people who had pre-ordered the game, and within minutes, all 17 of U.S. servers were full to capacity—and anyone unlucky enough not to act fast had to wait upwards of an hour to access the content. Fortunately, Trion Worlds reacted quickly and brought up additional servers to accommodate the player base. By the end of the day, the number of deployed servers swelled to 35. Rift may not be the World of Warcraft killer that some claim it to be, but it's clear that it will be one of the biggest MMO successes that we’ve seen in a while. Let's just hope it's not a case of MMO money, MMO problems. The game drops March 1 (March 3 and 4 in Europe/UK), so get ready to Rift your face off. Whatever that means. [via Massively]
