Judd Apatow (Knocked Up, Superbad) continues to work on funny movies that we'll no doubt line up to see whenever they open. His latest acquisition, Do Gooders, comes from the King of the Hill tandem of Alex Gregory and Peter Huyck. The writers are negotiating to sell the script's rights to Universal, with Apatow planning to push the film through the various stages of production.

While exact details are being kept hush-hush, Do Gooders is said to focus on celebrity types trying to hilariously help those in need. Gregory and Huyck are veterans at lampooning various subjects without going to South Park levels of disrespect. Since Apatow won't be directing (as he's working on his Knocked Up spin-off set to star his wife, Leslie Mann and Paul Rudd), the duo could also find themselves sharing the director's chair, since they've just shot A Good Old Fashioned Orgy with Will Forte (Parks and Recreation), Jason Sudeikis (Saturday Night Live), and Lake Bell (No Strings Attached).

Apatow's next project as producer is the all-female comedy Bridesmaids, hitting theaters on May 13th. Meanwhile, the Knocked Up spin-off will find Rudd and Leslie Mann reprising their roles as the dysfunctional married couple, with Megan Fox and Albert Brooks in talks to co-star.
