Once poured, the head evaporates away quickly, leaving a thin scrim atop the caramel colored liquid. The brown sugar so fiercely touted on the bottle sweetens the smell; Brown Shugga's aroma is vaguely spicy, like a fruit and nut cake. The taste is pleasantly hoppy and despite a near 10% ABV, the alcohol doesn't come across too loudly. The beer finishes smooth, the only lingering flavor a mild sweetness. Brown Shugga' is practically a dessert beer. Drop in a scoop or two of vanilla ice cream and you'd have an excellent float.
