As if Google's much buzzed about forthcoming music service could attract any more attention. The cloud's worst kept secret has incited more speculation with the news that the search giant has acquired Canada's mobile music startup, Pushlife.

Pushlife was a service that enabled users to access their iTunes libraries from the cloud. It also let you buy new music directly on your phone from digital stores built by mobile carriers. In 2010, iTunes bought a similar service, Lala, for use in its own upcoming music streaming service.

Whatever the end result of Google's music experiment will be, one thing is clear: Page and co. are cooking with gas. They have to be, with Amazon and others already laying claim to the market. Expect to hear a more solid update at Google's annual I/O conference in May.
