You've seen comic books and sci-fi paperbacks based on video game series—but have you ever seen respected authors taking on the world of a game? Today, Rockstar Games announced that they've partnered with a variety of well-known crime novelists to publish a series of short stories, some of which are based on characters and cases from L.A. Noire.

L.A. Noire: The Collected Stories will be available for digital download on June 6, and will include stories from Megan Abbott, Lawrence Block, Joe Lansdale, Joyce Carol Oates, Francine Prose, Jonathan Santlofer, Duane Swierczynski, and Andrew Vachss (among others)—all of whom are well respected in crime fiction. In fact, we're pleased to announce that Joe Lansdale's story will appear exclusively on Complex.com on May 17—before it's available anywhere else. We're huge fans of Lansdale's Hap and Leonard series of novels, and were amped when Rockstar offered us the opportunity to feature it. More on that later, though; for now, just get your readin' eyes ready.
