Casual and social gaming developer, PopCap, is reportedly in the final stages of being acquired by EA for the mind-boggling sum of $1 billion! PopCap, who reels in annual revenues of $100-150 million, has had huge success with its casual-friendly, yet highly addicting, games: Bejeweled, Peggle, Zuma and Plants vs. Zombies. PopCap was on track to go public by the end of this year according to PopCap’s CEO, Dave Roberts. If reports of this acquisition are accurate, then EA is making a gigantic move to get into the mobile and social gaming action. [via Gamasutra]
