Frank Darabont, writer and executive producer on the acclaimed AMC series The Walking Dead, has expressed concern over the potential impact of budget cuts on the zombie apocalypse show.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Darabont mad his feelings clear at the trade's annual drama showrunners Emmy roundtable. "Creatively, I have no complaints thus far," the Oscar nominated filmmaker says. "But I believe if they do move ahead with what they're talking about, it will affect the show creatively...in a negative way. Which just strikes me as odd. If you have an asset, why would you punish it?"
Shockingly enough, there's little we can see in the way of saving money just from the simple design of the show. If anything, all you have to do is look at the effects to know that The Walking Dead needs a budget increase. We're tired of seeing zombies feast on the fake innards of rubbery-looking victims. Before everyone starts running in a panic to the nearest CDC, let's be clear—there's no budget cut for the show.
The Walking Dead starring British actor Andrew Lincoln as Sheriff Rick Grimes, Sarah Wayne Callies as Lori Grimes, and Laurie Holden as Andrea returns for its second season this fall.
