Disney wasn't sorely disappointed in the seemingly so-so domestic box office showing of TRON: Legacy,as it has since gone on to make $400 million across the world since its release. While the sci-fi actioner wasn't a knockout for fans, The House of Mouse has hired writer David DiGilio to keep interest in a third installment on tilt.

If you're wondering what happened to original Legacy scribes, and Lost veterans, Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz, they've taken their pens and pads and gone back to ABC to produce the fantastical TV drama Once Upon a Time. Enter DiGilio, who, according to Heat Vision, has his own ideas on where to take the next TRON flick. Yet, we might not know exactly what he's planning until after the animated spinoff series TRON: Uprising premieres on Disney XD next year; if that bombs, another TRON movie will become less of a reality.

DiGilio, an alum of Disney's writers program and wrote the Paul Walker-starring Eight Below, has sold a pitch for post-apocalyptic sci-fi series to Showtime titled Last Hospital On Planet Earth (H.O.P.E.).
