When buying a mobile speaker system, portability and sound quality are often at odds with one another. Bose wants you to know it doesn’t have to be that way. The audio experts from Framingham, Mass. today released the latest addition to their mobile audio lineup: the SoundLink Wireless Mobile Speaker.

About the size of a new hardcover book, the SoundLink is able to deliver full-sized sound thanks to four low-profile neodymium transducers for highs and mids, and dual-opposing passive radiators for the deep, bassy notes. That may all sound as coherent as an OJ Da Juiceman freestyle, but all you have to know is that the SoundLink is able to bump as loudly and as clearly Bose’s SoundDocks.

Pairing your Bluetooth-enabled device is as easy as turning on the SoundLink and waiting for your phone/computer/tablet to recognize it (That’s right: This Bose dock isn’t Apple exclusive). From there, the SoundLink will remember your device, along with the five most recently paired, so all you have to do next time is turn it on and play your song.

Bose understands that if you’re carrying something around with you, at some point you’re going to drop it. To safeguard your investment, the SoundLink’s been outfitted with end-caps made from automotive-grade chrome. Bose also tested it in its environmental labs to make sure it’ll survive a day at the beach.

The Bose SoundLink Wireless Mobile Speaker is available now for $299.95 and comes with a dark gray Cordura nylon cover that also doubles as a stand. You can get the LX model, which comes with a dark brown leather cover for $349. If both of those are too plain, you can cop covers in different colors for $29.95 (nylon; bright red or royal purple) or $49.95 (leather; burgundy or tan).
