It sucks to know that the original movie's driving force may not be on board.

It's no secret to anyone that a Bridesmaids sequel is definitely a possibility. Director Paul Feig was even talking about making a follow-up even before the movie opened. Now that it's official that The Hangover-esque female-lead comedy was the laugh hit of the summer, it appears that star Kristen Wiig isn't interested in making the sequel. Her co-star Jon Hamm commented to E! Online about the situation, saying, "I don't think Kristen is going to do it. They need to lock [Wiig] up before me."

Universal may need to whip out the checkbook to convince the Saturday Night Live star to return for another round. Having also co-wrote Bridesmaids with Annie Mumolo, Wiig is a sure-fire commodity for a succcessful sequel, and will need to return for scripting duties as well. Melissa McCarthy, who is currently enjoying fame as a result of Bridesmaids, has said wherever she could that she'd "show up wherever they tell her to go."

While us cinephiles have the ultimate confidence in Kristen to follow her heart, we ask for the sake of funny that she consider getting the gang together. Hell, if those Hangover guys can make a threequel, why not come back and show them how to do raunchy humor righteously?
