Marvel Studio Head Kevin Feige Says "Thor 2" Will Venture To Other Worlds

Which one of The Nine Worlds are you looking forward to seeing on the big screen?

None

Thor 2 sounds electric after we reported that Monster director Patty Jenkins may helm the superhero sequel for Marvel Studios. While it still isn't clear if she's a lock for the job yet, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has some new details which indicate that Chris Hemsworth's title character will be going beyond the realms of Earth and Asgard.

"The sequel will take Thor literally to other worlds," Feige said to Entertainment Weekly. "Thor 2 will primarily be the journey of that character, of he and Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) and how the new dynamic with his father (Odin, played by Anthony Hopkins) is working out." In the first film, we got a chance to see the lands of Asgard, Midgard, and Jotunheim, but in Thor 2 seeing the Norse god travel to other realms will be a great step in the right direction for the franchise.

Those other six worlds include:

  • Alfheim: Land of the Light Elves
  • Hel: Land of the dead
  • Muspelheim: Land of the demons
  • Nidavellir: Home of the dwarves
  • Svartalfheim: Land of the Dark Elves
  • Vanaheim: Land of the Vanir, a “sister race” of the Asgardians.

No official word has broke yet that Portman and Hopkins will reprise their roles, although it seems unlikely they'd pass up the opportunity. There has been no indication on when production may start, but Marvel has locked in a July 26, 2013 release date for the sequel. Will you venture to other planes of existence with the Thunder god?
