The Farrelly Brothers' "The Three Stooges" Hits Theaters In April 2012

Have they come up with something that will have any of the iconic comic appeal of the original Stooges?

None

After years of delays and false starts, Peter and Bobby Farrelly's The Three Stooges, which is a project they've wanted to do for years, finally have a calendar position. Every leading man under the sun from the likes of Sean Penn and Jim Carrey to Larry David and Justin Timberlake were rumored to play the eponymous goofballs. But now with Sean Hayes, Will Sasso, and Chris Diamantopoulos (try saying that three-times fast) playing Larry, Curly, and Moe in this PG-rated slapstick fest—the old gags will hit theaters on April 4, 2012. Jane LynchLarry DavidJennifer Hudson, and Stephen Collins also co-star.

The Three Stooges will play out to new audiences in the form of three interconnected vignettes, which will be full of beat 'em down rambunctiousness. While the jury is still out on whether the classic clowns will have the magic touch at the box office, but we'll definitely make sure to pay special attention to Sofia Vergara while the projectors roll. With other movies like American Reunion to Think Like a Man also hitting theaters that spring week, do The Farrelly Brothers have what it takes to return to comedy prominence?
