4G LTE—actual 4G technology unlike the slower HSPA+ found, for example, in the new iPhone 4S—is finally hitting AT&T smartphones and two new Android devices, the HTC Vivid and Samsung Galaxy SII Skyrocket, will be the first to come equipped with the faster connectivity when they go on sale November 6th.

Up until now, Verizon has been the only major carrier with the “true” 4G technology, but AT&T will begin its 4G LTE coverage in cities such as Boston, D.C., and Baltimore next week, expanding to 15 markets by the end of the year. With both technologies, devices stand to be always tethered to an optimal connection.

As for the phones, they boast similar specs, both packing 8-megapixel cameras and 16GB of storage, though the Skyrocket, pricier by $50 at $249.99 with contract, packs a 4.5-inch SuperAMOLED display and 1.5 GHz processor.
