The 59-year-old actor has decided to not enlist in the league of extraordinary aging brawny men, instead Mickey Rourke is now in negotiations to work on Seven Psychopaths. The actor, who played the garage-dwelling, cowbot hat-wearing "Tool" in the first Expendables, claimed that the paycheck was not big enough for him to be involved in the Simon West-led project

The movie tells the tale of a screenwriter who is struggling to find a handle for his script — entitled Seven Psychopaths — until he takes part in the kidnapping of a gangster's dog, which gives him the idea for a hook. The Oscar-nominated Mickey will next be seen in Immortals alongside Henry Cavilland also recently signed up to star in Java Heat with Twilight's Kellan Lutz. Directed by Martin McDonagh (In Bruges), Seven Psychopaths will star Colin Farrell, Sam Rockwell, and Christopher Walken.

In related The Expendables 2 news, actor/martial artist Scott Adkins has joined the cast in an as-yet-to-be revealed role. He recently tweeted a photo of himself from the set:

He may not have been lucky enough to get in a Twitpic with these guys, but he'll be a part of the league when The Expendables shoot-up theaters on August 17, 2012.
