Scott Olsen wants everyone to know that he’s alright. The Iraq War veteran, who was seriously injured when a gas canister struck him in the head a few weeks ago, jumped onto Google Plus this morning to offer a status update. In his statement, Olsen says that he’s regaining his speech, and that we can expect to hear more from him in the future:

“I'm feeling a lot better, with a long road in front of me. After my freedom of speech was quite literally taken from me, my speech is coming back but I've got a lot of work to do with rehab. Thank you for all your support, it has meant the world to me. You'll be hearing more from me in the near future and soon enough we'll see you in our streets!”

This comes in the wake of Occupy Oakland being evicted for a second time, and with protesters determined to reclaim their camp site, this is motivation to return to Frank Ogawa Plaza with a renewed sense of purpose. Let’s just hope the aftermath isn’t more violence.
