Sacha Baron Cohen Joins The Cast Of "Django Unchained"

Will The Dictator become another slavemaster?

None

Quentin Tarantino still hasn't finished rounding up the players for his spaghetti Western entitled Django Cast. It seems that the controversial director is adding Sacha Baron Cohen to the ever-expanding cast. Most of Cohen's career has been a gamble, usually because it involves making fun of people to their faces, but Tarantino wants the funnyman to play a gambler who buys Django's wife, Broomhilda.

With QT filling the many smaller roles for the ensemble piece, Cohen's character "Scotty" will tangle with Jamie Foxx's titular freed slave. If you're just joining the hype, Django Unchained follows Foxx and Christoph Waltz (who plays a German bounty hunter) as they embark on a mission to rescue his wife from the clutches of Calvin Candieplayed by Leonardo DiCaprio.

We doubt that the encounter between Cohen and the muscle-bound Foxx will come to a good end, but his role will surely entertain audiences, as Tarantino specifically sought Cohen for the role. Together they'll appear in the movie with Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Samuel L. Jackson, Kurt Russell, Anthony LaPaglia, Don Johnson, RZA, Gerald McRaney, and Kerry Washington

Django Unchained begins filming in January 2012.
