The PS3 exclusive that's been teased over the last week was revealed last night at the Spike TV video game awards, and we've got to admit it looks impressive. The trailer above debuted during the show, and it shows protagonists Joel and Ellie stabbing and shooting their way out of a decrepit hotel into an even decrepit-er city. Suffice to say, shit looks messed up.

"The Last of Us is a genre-defining experience that blends survival and action elements to tell a character driven tale about a modern plague decimating mankind," Naughty Dog says. "Nature encroaches upon civilization, forcing remaining survivors to kill for food, weapons and whatever they can find. Joel, a ruthless survivor, and Ellie, a brave young teenage girl who is wise beyond her years, must work together to survive their journey across what remains of the United States."

We don't know much about the actual gameplay yet. What do you think? Will it be a third-person adventure like Uncharted? Joel reminds us Nate Drake, but with more beardy goodness. We've got our fingers crossed for splitscreen and online co-op, as well. Check out our awards recap for the rest of the winners and let us know what you think in the comments or on Twitter or Facebook.
