Recently, Republican presidential nominee hopeful Rick Santorum landed himself in majorly hot water when he was quoted in Iowa as saying, "I don't want to make black people's lives better by giving them somebody else's money; I want to give them the opportunity to go out and earn the money." Hell, it was caught on video! There's no way he can deny that, right?
Apparently, even video evidence doesn't mean he's not going to try. During an interview with CNN's John King on Wednesday, Santorum assured King and the viewers that he didn't say "black"...he said "bleaugh"! Oh, OK.
Wait, what?
"I've looked at that quote, in fact I looked at the video," he said in the interview, "and I don't – in fact, I'm pretty confident I didn't say black. What I think - I started to say a word and then sort of, bleaugh, sort of mumbled it and changed my thought, but I don't recall saying 'black.'"
So just to be clear, Santorum claims he did not say "black people" - he said "bleaugh people." He wasn't being racist, he was just being stupid! Whatever you say, dude.
