Samsung's New Blu-Ray Player Will Store Your DVDs In The Cloud

Disc-to-digital.

Here's some exciting news on the Blu-Ray front (we don't say that very often these days): Samsung announced a new flagship bells-and-whistles player at CES, and it will store your DVDs in the cloud.

The BD-E6500, price TBA, has "disc-to-digital" feature that will let you upload digital copies of your movies in the cloud for a nominal fee. From there, you can stream your movies to your computer, tablet or phone apps like Flixster.

In addition to disc-to-digital, the E6500 is a smart player that brings web apps to your TV like Netflix, Pandora and more. You can also control it with your smartphone by downloading a special app from Samsung.

The BD-E6500 doesn't have a release date yet, but is said to be arriving later this year.
