Google’s looking more and more like Microsoft each day.
The Wall Street Journal is reporting that the search giant is readying a cloud-based storage service similar to the popular Dropbox.
According to sources close to situation, he service will be called Drive and will allow users to store documents, videos, and photos on Google’s servers, and then make them accessible from any Web-connected device. To send a person a file, the user will have to upload it to Drive then email the person a link to download or view.
Drive is expected to launch within the next few months and will be free for most users and businesses.
Google's entrance into the cloud-storage market is just the latest attempt by the billion-dollar company to enter industries pioneered by smaller, nimbler upstarts.
