When 2010's Kick-Ass hit theaters, it completely shed the clichés of the superhero genre by focusing on a wannabe slacker in tights who regularly got beat up, rejected by women, and humiliated on a grand scale. While it didn't exactly have big numbers at the box office, Kick-Ass was successful with critics and fans of the original comic. Now Kick-Ass creator Mark Millar not only revealed that a sequel to the movie is on its way, but that it's coming a lot sooner than expected.

"We shoot Kick-Ass 2 and American Jesus this summer," Millar told The Daily Record. This news comes just weeks before the actual Kick-Ass 2 comic series is set to conclude with issue number seven, and is somewhat surprising considering the original's soft box office returns.

Meanwhile, Millar's other comic book adaptation, American Jesus, will focus on a 12-year-old boy discovering that he is Jesus Christ reincarnated. According to Millar, "If you are doing a movie about the return of Jesus as the Bible prophesied in the Book of Revelation, you have got to do it straight and treat it with dignity. I’m not taking the p***. It will be treated like a proper film."

Millar also revealed that Matthew Vaughn will direct an adaption of his yet-to-be-published comic book series Secret Service, which Millar describes as, "a nerdy James Bond".

It still remains to be seen who will direct and star in Kick-Ass 2 and Millar's other projects, but with a planned summer shooting date looming, all should be revealed soon.
