Very few premises could titillate more than an axe-wielding president in pursuit of the undead. This is the stuff of genre wet dreams, and with director Timur Bekmambetov (Wanted) and producer Tim Burton (countless awesome films) helming the project, we know we're in for a satisfying conclusion.

The film, which is based on Seth Grahame-Smith's novel of the same name, re-imagines the Civil War as an attack on vampires that is fueled by Abe Lincoln's passion for revenge on the bloodsuckers after they took the life of his mother. As an added historical twist, the vampires are looking to enslave the living, and the South is on the side of the undead, an alignment that succeeds in thrusting the nation into war.

The trailer, while revealing little in the way of plot, is mysteriously electrifying. There are top hats, and axes being thrown, Sleepy Hollow-looking scenery and a haunting voice over.  The genre mash-up stars Benjamin Walker, Rufus Sewell, and Dominic Cooper, and will be in theaters on June 22.
