Because nothing deserves the Hollywood treatment more than a bunch of scary clowns doing drive-bys on one another, Sony's officially got the ball rolling on a Twisted Metal movie adaptation. It'll be written and directed by Brian Taylor, co-director of both Crank movies, Gamer, and Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance.

We're going to put on our poker faces and reserve all our gloomy predictions and judgments until we get more details. Game-to-movie adaptations have an incredibly unfortunate history, but Sony won't want to fudge their own property (Twisted Metal is a Sony-exclusive brand). And David Jaffe will likely go berserk if they wreck his beautiful creation—his wrath is no small thing to trifle with.

Calypso, Needle Kane (and his ice cream truck, Sweet Tooth) and Doll Face are all slated to be included in the film, so at least there will be plenty of fan service for series fans. Any predictions? Does this sound like a good idea to you? Let us know in the comments or on Twitter.
