The Xbox.com page for Assassin's Creed III may have been revealed some exciting new information about the game's multiplayer offerings. Earlier today the US and UK listings of Assassin's Creed III mentioned both eight-player competitive multiplayer, as well as co-op for up to four players.

The listings have since been edited, removing any mention of co-op play.

At this point it's assumed that some form of the series' distinctive multiplayer would make the jump to ACIII. Co-op, however, is completely new territory for the series.

Though Ubisoft has been forthcoming with information about the series recently, there's still a lot we don't know, so co-op is entirely possible. That said, until Ubisoft shows it off, its entirely possible that the listing was just a mistake.

Assassin's Creed III will be in stores October 30th.
