"Minecraft" Makers Turn Down TV Shows, Investment From Former Facebook Pres. Sean Parker

Mojang may be rolling in it, but they're continuing to take things slow.

The Financial Times has got an enlightening report on the current state of Minecraft studio Mojang's financial affairs—it turns out (as you could probably guess) they've done quite well for themselves. Their revenue in the 15 months since Minecraft launched have totalled $80 million, coming close to fellow Scandinavians Rovio's (of Angry Birds fame) $100 million income last year.

But the company is still taking things slowly. They turned down an investment from Napster co-founder and former Facebook president Sean Parker—made infamous by The Social Network—who even flew them to London for a night of partying as part of his failed courtship attempt with the company.

And they've said "maybe" to small screen drama, as well. “We’ve been approached by a number of high-profile Hollywood producers and asked to do TV shows,” Mojang CEO Carl Manneh told the Times. “We may do that. It’s hard when you don’t have any experience and someone comes to throw these ideas around. We have so much to focus on with just the game development and growing the business. But if the right idea comes along and the right people that we’d want to work with, we’d say why not?”
