It’s comforting to know you can’t trust the security workers at the airport, isn’t it? A veteran security supervisor at the Newark airport was recently arrested for using a dead man’s identity for the last 20 years. Port Authority says that illegal Nigerian immigrant Bimbo Olumuyiwa Oyewole has somehow managed to pass all background checks under the guise of Jerry Thomas.

Oyewole was responsible for 30 guards at Newark Libery International Airport, and had previously worked for several other security firms there. As for Jerry Thomas, well, he was murdered in Queens, N.Y., two decades ago. Authorities are still clueless as to how the 54-year-old Oyewole got a hold of Thomas’ identity, and got his fingerprints to sync with government records.

It’s still unclear exactly how he was caught, but Oyewole was arrested yesterday at his Elizabeth, N.J., home. He’ll soon be arraigned on charges that include identity theft. Who’s watching the watchmen again?
