The infamous Gabe Newell, who's feared and loved in equal measure, has confirmed that the company won't be revealing Half-Life 3 at E3 this year.

Previous rumors claimed that Newell himself hinted at the E3 2012 reveal, but jokester that he is, Newell's confirmed to various sources, including fans (via email) and IGN, that we won't be seeing, hearing or touching Half-Life 3 at the convention.

Valve will be in attendance, though, showing off the previously announced games DOTA 2 and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.

Last month Newell spoke in code about Half-Life 3, saying, "We think that the twists and turns that we're going through would probably drive people more crazy than just being silent about it, until we can be very crisp about what's happening next."

Hopefully that happens sooner rather than later. Any predictions? Let us know in the comments or on Twitter.
