Former Red Sox star and World Series regular Curt Schilling made a bold move when he decided to found a video game studio in 2006, and the state of Rhode Island made an equally bold move when they gave him a $75 million loan to move the business there in 2010. That move, unfortunately, paid off for neither party.
The studio has collapsed and every employee has been laid off, and Rhode Island officials aren't even sure how much the fiasco is going to cost them.
Schilling doesn't have that problem, though, as he told WEEI-FM in Boston, "the money I saved during baseball was probably all gone," reports CBS. At least he can count his losses and lick his wounds, and he said he hopes to find work soon as an ESPN analyst.
He blamed the governor, as well as himself, for the studio's troubles.
