Meebo was once a chat client. Then it evolved into a social publishing platform with an audience of nearly 100 million people. It’s little surprise then that a bigger company would soon snap it up. Yesterday, Google announced its acquisition of Meebo—rumored to be in the region of $100 million—in an effort to bolster Google+. “We are always looking for better ways to help users share content and connect with others across the web, just as they do in real life,” Google said in a press release.
