When governments of the world want things scrubbed from the ‘net, they ask Google. So, the search giant compiled all of those requests into its biannual Transparency Report, and surprisingly, the most activity came from the U.S., with a 103% increase from the previous six-month period. Though in most cases, Google simply shot down the requests. For instance, a local law enforcement agency asked that 1,400 YouTube videos be removed for alleged harassment, but Google refused to comply.
Granted, the only reason China probably didn’t top the charts is the fact that YouTube is unavailable there.
