The 2D indie platformer Limbo was one of the best games of 2010, and now new info has emerged about its follow-up, code-named Project 2.

A Dutch government listing of grant recipients calls the game "the story of one boy's struggle against evil forces" guilty of "questionable experiments on human bodies", as translated by Google. Yup, that sounds like something they'd do, especially after the mindfuck of Limbo.

A 2D platformer in a 3D environment, the game will also feature "unique puzzles". The listing notes that unlike Limbo, the game will be in color, though judging by the concept art it'll still be pretty drab.

Playdead head Dino Patti was quoted last year saying that the game looks "crazy good", and he must not be lying, considering the Dutch government just gave the company roughly $169,000. No word on a release date, though it's not expected any time soon—maybe 2014?

Are you looking forward to the next game from the Limbo developers? Would you prefer a Limbo sequel or something else entirely? Let us know in the comments or on Twitter.
