If you found yourself enjoying Prometheus this weekend as much as we did, then we have some good news for you. According to an interview with Collider, director Ridley Scott revealed that there will be an extended cut of the movie on Blu-Ray that will add 20-30 minutes of footage to the theatrical release.

When asked about the differences in the cuts, Scott said, "This is fundamentally the director’s cut. But there will be half an hour of stuff on the menu because people are so into films—how they’re made, how they’re set up, and the rejections in it. That’s why it’s fascinating. So this will all go on to the menu."

This quote makes it sound like the regular cut of Prometheus will feature a "branching" option where audiences can click a button on their remote when prompted in order to get either an extended version of a scene or a brand-new one all together. Obviously, those details will be confirmed later on when the Blu-Ray specs are officially announced.

On top of the extended stuff, there will also be a completely different section for deleted scenes that don't fit into the film at all. Scott explained one such scene featuring a fight between Noomi Rapace and The Engineer.

"The Engineer fight scene was pretty good. It will definitely go on the menu. It won’t go on the long version. The problem about it is, while she gives as good as she gets with an axe (she’s very physical), he’s so big, for him to be clouted with a conventional weapon somehow diminished him. It’s subtle. It’s drama," he said.

We'll have to wait until all of the details are released until we know for sure what version of Prometheus we're going to actually get.
