Put up yer dukes, because Zeno Clash 2 is heading to XBLA, PSN and Steam in early 2013. The sequel to ACE Team's indie first-person brawler is promised to be "bigger, bolder and better" than the original, according to a press release sent out this morning.

The world of Zenozoik is open and ready for exploration, and the first game's protagonist, Ghat, returns with new locations, creatures, enemies, weapons, and items. The revamped fighting system will give players an improved lock-on function and added control over where their strikes land on enemies.

And new RPG elements allow for skill improvement for both Ghat and his sister, Rimat, who'll be controlled by a second character using the game's brand new drop in/drop out online co-op.

"The world of Zenozoik is one of wild dreams and wilder nightmares," said ACE Team co-founder Andres Bordeu in the press release. "This is part of the reason we are working on Zeno Clash II, to give players the opportunity to explore Zenozoik with a friend via online cooperative multiplayer, turning those moments of wonder and awe into a shared adventure.

"We will make certain that going back and forth between solo and cooperative play preserves the consistency and impact of the narrative experience, while still allowing friends easily drop in and out of the game's fulfilling exploration and visceral melee combat."

They don't mention whether splitscreen will be implemented on consoles, but we've got our fingers crossed. What else are you looking forward to in Zeno Clash 2? Leave a comment below or on Twitter.
