Despite the fact that Sony and Marc Webb are willing to collaborate again on another Amazing Spider-Man movie, Fox might not allow it to happen. According to The L.A. Times, the director already committed to a prior deal over at Fox that has him contractually obligated to do one more movie at the studio after it gave him the financing for (500) Days of Summer. Apparently Fox wants Webb's movie to be done sooner rather than later, and that means he wouldn't have the time to revisit the world of Spider-Man.
But the site is now reporting that Fox might give Webb the time to do another Spider-Man movie only if he commits to directing two movies at the studio. We’re dealing with adults here, right? If this deal doesn’t work out, Sony will have to be on the lookout for a new director quickly as The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is set to hit theaters in May of 2014.
