Despite making over $500 million (so far) at the worldwide box office, Columbia Pictures might need to be on the search for a director to replace Marc Webb on The Amazing Spider-Man 2. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the president of the studio, Doug Belgrad, stated, "We'd really like him back, but there are obstacles. He has an obligation to Fox."

Webb has had a contract with Fox requiring him to direct another picture with the studio since he signed the deal to do 500 Days of Summer at Fox Searchlight in 2009. This could potentially keep him from returning to do Amazing Spider-Man 2 in time for the film’s release date of May 2, 2014.

Nothing is confirmed as of yet, and a deal could still be struck, but right now it looks like Webb might be on his way out. If he doesn’t return, who would you like to see take over the series? Let us know.
