Microsoft Surface, the company's highly anticipated in-house tablet that is probably the future of computing, will arrive October 26.
The date, revealed by Microsoft in a recent SEC filing, is also when Windows 8 will be released to the public.
“The next version of our operating system, Windows 8, will be generally available on October 26, 2012,” Microsoft said in the report. “At that time, we will begin selling the Surface, a series of Microsoft-designed and manufactured hardware devices.”
Microsoft has said Surface will only be sold online and at brick-and-mortar Microsoft Stores across the country.
